Data Engineering Intern

May - August 2024 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

I am so grateful to my manager and the DE Team, who were very patient and encouraging with me. The recruiting team and the time they took to welcome the interns to Ryan was also very much appreciated. I am happy with my contribution to the projects I worked on. I think I had a good balance between contributing to the projects, and learning and taking away new things. I also had an amazing opportunity to visit the Microsoft office in Irving for a workshop about Databricks, a data intelligence platform that Ryan is planning to incorporate into its services. I also love the culture and values at Ryan. Things like Ryan Break and myRyan maintains work-life balance. I also love Ryan's value of community service.

Advice

The important of communication. Don't be scared to ask for clarification, or worry that you have dumb questions. Also, don't be stressed out about the amount of your contribution, because the most important thing in an internship is to learn, and take away things that you can use for your career.

What I liked

I felt very valued as an intern at Ryan! The internship retreat in Dallas was a big highlight, and it was beneficial to meet other interns as well as the practice leaders. For the role itself, I had a ton of autonomy and feedback from my manager and my peers which was helpful.

What I wish was different

Nothing! This was truly the best internship that I've had.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share would be to be proactive with your projects and to make an effort to network with everyone on your team! It will be worth it!

Events Intern

May - August 2024 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

I loved how much creative freedom and trust I got from my manager and team members! They were open to my ideas and let me take control of projects I was given. As a second year intern, they gave me bigger projects to work on, which helped me grow in the field of events. The internship program is amazing and the campus recruiting team does a great job of making the experience exceptional. Getting to work with other team members on their projects was a great learning experience. I got to learn the different aspects of putting on different kinds of events. I got the opportunity to explore ways we do client entertainment and really see how it all works. My past two summers at Ryan have been amazing!

Advice

I have a couple pieces of advice. Firstly, meet with your manager before your start date. It’s important to prepare your goals and what you want to work on during your time at your internship. Preparing these and meeting with your manager before your start date helps ensure you fulfill your time the way you want to. Secondly, don’t be afraid to ask for more work or ask questions. You have a couple of months to really dive into this experience and make it your own. It’s important to speak up if there is something you want to work on or feel as if there isn’t enough work for you to do. You can always reach out to your team members to see how you can assist on their tasks as well. Lastly, always work hard. You have a couple of months to use this experience as a way to not only learn, but to prove yourself as a great candidate. No matter how big or small the task or project is, always give it your all and bring 100% energy to the table.
