Digital Archive Intern

The Robert Schalkenbach Foundation is hiring a digital archive intern to support the creation of an online collection of 19th century political cartoons.  The archive will feature several hundred images and accompanying descriptions and classroom activities. 

In collaboration with a subject matter expert, the Intern will:

  • Create an inventory of all political cartoons published between 1878 and 1910 featuring Henry George and/or his ideas
  • Determine the requirements and obtain permissions for digital use of every image
  • Scan images from books and other physical sources
  • Create an online database of high-quality cartoon images

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience creating and/or maintaining a digital archive
  • Familiarity with Preservica archival software
  • An understanding of U.S. intellectual property laws and best practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience conducting online research
  • An ability to multitask
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
