Job Overview: Podium is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Senior Marketing Manager contractor to assist with coverage in our audiobook title marketing division. In this role, you’ll develop and execute full-funnel marketing and publicity campaigns to maximize the visibility, awareness, and sales of audiobooks across our growing catalog—spanning romance, sci-fi & fantasy, mystery & thriller, and nonfiction, among others. 

As the lead on select campaigns, you’ll work cross-functionally with internal marketing and editorial teams in partnership with authors and agents to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to each audiobook’s campaign. As such, we are seeking candidates with deep knowledge of the publishing industry, including a strong background in marketing strategy with experience leading campaigns and working directly with authors.

This is a contract role that is estimated to run for nine weeks. 

Responsibilities

  • Execute full-funnel marketing campaigns to maximize visibility, awareness, and sales of books spanning genres including romance, sci-fi & fantasy, mystery & thriller, and nonfiction
  • Lead select book campaigns from strategy through execution, ensuring a cohesive and integrated approach across all channels
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal marketing, editorial, and distribution teams to align campaign strategy and execution
  • Partner directly with authors and agents to develop and deliver campaign plans that support each book's goals
  • Manage relationships with authors, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the campaign lifecycle

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of book publishing experience working in marketing, branding, and/or publicity.
  • Bachelor's degree 
  • A mindset focused on growth and dedication to an entrepreneurial approach to the publishing industry–dare to do things differently!
  • Proficiency in key marketing concepts and tools, including consumer insights, sales analysis, budgeting, social media marketing, ad planning, and email marketing
  • Experience—or a strong interest—in publicity strategy and earned media outreach. Nice-to-have: experience in using PR databases like Cision or Muckrack
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously with a proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritize effectively
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with experience presenting to large groups
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Asana, Slack, and other project management tools
