Search Fund Intern: Sales, Data Analysis, Finance

Dumu Holdings is an entrepreneur-led investment firm seeking to acquire and operate a single high-quality small business. We focus on B2B sectors such as healthcare services and environmental services, regulated industries where strong operations and community ties create lasting impact. Dumu Holdings is led by Diana Mongare, an HBS MBA with nearly a decade of experience across management consulting, investing, and small business operations. She began her career at McKinsey & Company, advising Fortune 500 companies and governments, and later joined BlackRock’s Decarbonization Partners, investing in high-growth climate tech and sustainability companies. Diana has also built and scaled three small businesses, in waste management, fashion retail, and experiential events, giving her a hands-on, operator-first perspective that differentiates her approach to search.

Internship Structure

We are looking for a smart, driven Intern to join us part-time from January for the duration of the Spring semester. The role is part time, and targeting interns who can work 10 - 20 hours a week. The internship includes  a success fee based stipend tied to meaningful contributions (e.g., successful proprietary business connections, IOIs secured for brokered deals, validated lists or outreach conversions that lead to pipeline wins, etc.)

Interns will begin in one primary track based on skills & interest. High performers may take on a secondary track as the semester progresses. 

TRACK A: Brokered Deal Associate

(For candidates interested in finance, investing, or PE deal flow)

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor broker platforms (Axial, DealStream, SMERGers, etc.) and triage new listings.
  • Review teasers and CIMs, producing first-round screening summaries.
  • Assess business model, revenue quality, customer concentration, and risk factors.
  • Draft broker email communications and coordinate NDA/CIM requests.
  • Keep deal pipelines organized and updated in the CRM.

Ideal Fit

  • Strong analytical/writing skills
  • Interest in financial analysis, PE, or entrepreneurship
  • Detail-oriented and structured thinker

     

TRACK B: Proprietary List Building & Market Research Associate

(Great for research-focused candidates, sourcing, data work, or analytics)

Key Responsibilities

  • Build high-quality lists of owner-operated businesses using Grata, Inven, Apollo.io, Clay, LinkedIn, and industry databases.
  • Verify and clean contact information (emails, phone numbers, ownership data).
  • Identify “personalization snippets” and company-specific insights for outreach.
  • Maintain clean datasets across SmartLead, Apollo, and Pipedrive.

Ideal Fit

  • Highly organized, rigorous researcher
  • Enjoys structured data work and process-driven tasks
  • Strong attention to detail in databases/spreadsheets

     

TRACK C: Cold Calling & Outreach Associate

(Perfect for candidates excited about communication, sales, and people-facing work)

Key Responsibilities

  • Make outbound calls to business owners using vetted call scripts.
  • Log call outcomes and schedule qualified meetings with the Founder.
  • Personalize and send targeted outreach emails to priority companies.
  • Help refine scripts, messaging, and SmartLead/Apollo email sequences.

Ideal Fit

  • Confident communicator who enjoys phone-based work
  • Resilient, personable, and comfortable speaking with senior decision-makers
  • Interested in sales, entrepreneurship, and relationship-building

     

TRACK D: Financial Analysis & Deal Evaluation

(Best suited for candidates with experience and interested in investment analysis)

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial statements and normalize EBITDA.
  • Build light financial models using CIM data or seller-provided financials.
  • Perform market sizing, competitive analysis, and operating model research.
  • Support preparation of IOIs, valuation ranges, and deal theses.

Ideal Fit

  • Strong finance or accounting foundation
  • Ability to interpret P&Ls, customer concentration, and margin trends
  • Clear communicator who can translate numbers into insights
