Spring 2026 Social Media Intern

Organization Description:

The Police Reform Organizing Project (PROP) is a nonprofit dedicated to exposing and reforming the abusive, racist and homophobic practices of the New York Police Department. Through research, analysis and consistent reporting, PROP aims to raise awareness for how the NYPD consistently violates the rights of communities of color, the LGBTQAI, and the homeless.

Position Summary

PROP is looking to increase its social media presence, and for our Spring 2026 Social Media Intern we are looking for a self-motivated currently enrolled or recently graduated student with a strong interest in social media and political advocacy. Social Media Interns will be responsible for managing, creating content and growing PROP’s social media accounts.

Essential:  Strong communication, attention to detail and experience with content creation for Instagram or TikTok.

Desirable: Video editing and Photoshop skills, and experience with YouTube content creation.

PROP is looking for someone who is self motivated and comfortable managing PROP’s social media accounts with little oversight. Responsibilities include: creating weekly posts and videos for PROP’s Instagram and Tik Tok, growing our social media accounts through community engagement, helping Innovate and evolve content strategy. Interns will also be responsible for attending weekly meetings to report progress.

We also welcome the initiation of intern-led projects, provided they align with PROP's core mission. As a largely volunteer-driven organization, PROP offers interns the chance to engage in meaningful and impactful work daily. While internships with PROP are unpaid, certain expenses (e.g., printing and other essential activities) may be reimbursed with prior approval from the director or project coordinator. At PROP interns take on meaningful projects and have real responsibilities, so this role is ideal for individuals eager to gain practical experience with social media, marketing or non-profit advocacy groups.
